Our SSI Open Water Diver Course is the perfect way to begin your journey in becoming a certified scuba diver. With world-class instruction, personalized training on your schedule, and unparalleled diving experiences, we ensure that you gain the skills, confidence, and knowledge needed to comfortably, safely explore, while having fun in the aquatic world.
The start date indicated above corresponds to your first pool session. Prior to this session, an instructor will contact you to arrange an academic review and conduct a gear fitting.
The OWD Course consists of 3 parts:
Academics
The SSI Digital Training program is designed to give students the flexibility to study scuba diving theory at their own convenience. To get started, visit my.DiveSSI.com and register to create a new diver profile with SSI. You can also affiliate yourself with Groundhog Divers and preview some course materials before officially enrolling.
Once you've completed your home study, you'll participate in a gear fitting / orientation followed by a review of academic material. Our Professional Instructors will guide you through the theory, ensuring you're well-prepared for the next steps in the course. .
Confined Water
Pool sessions are where you will develop your scuba skills in small class sizes with the help of your instructor in preparation for Open Water Check-out dives.
Open Water Check-out Dives
To finalize your certification, you'll need to complete four check-out dives, where you'll showcase the skills you've acquired in an open water setting. There are multiple options available for completing these dives, giving you flexibility in choosing the experience that suits you best.
Prerequisites:
- Must be at least 15 years of age
- Medically cleared to dive (if applicable)
Course Includes:
- Online Digital Program
- Classroom Session(s)
- Pool/Confined Water Sessions (2 or 3)
- Open Water Dives
- Use of BCD, Scuba Tank, Regulator
